Intra-articular steroid worked better:
1) in the short term up to 3 months;
2) in those whose Xray showed less severe structural damage;
3) in the non-obese.
Structural predictors of response to intra-articular steroid injection in symptomatic knee osteoarthritis
Those with more severe structural damage on Xray or MRI responded less well to intra-articular steroid than those with less severe disease.
