This study aims to explore the clinical characteristics and risk factors of rheumatoid arthritis (RA)-associated interstitial lung disease (ILD). This is a retrospective study of 550 patients with RA.

Over 40% of RA patients develop interstitial lung disease, most manifesting within the first 10 years of disease.  The majority are of the NSIP type (vs UIP).

Risk factors are: age, smoking, elevated LDH, and RF positivity.
